8. The University of Findlay

The University of Findlay (UF) is established as  private university in Findlay. It was affiliated with the Churches of God General Conference. Near 4000 students are studying at Findlay.

The contribution of Universities in household economy has largely been "invisible" because Universities’ involvement in domestic works and skill-based activities such as handicraft, agricultural works etc. have been regarded as non-productive sector. This has been devaluating the Universities’ contribution in household economy which is no doubt a significant constrains to uplift the socio-economic status of USA Universities. Thus, there is a need to study the contribution of Universities in household economy.
The role and status of Universities differ according to caste and ethnicity; however, their sub-ordinate position to men exists in all caste, ethnic and religious groups. Universities play important roles in household subsistence, in agriculture, in labor work etc. Specially, the role of rural Universities in household economy is crucial. Universities’ labor participation in agriculture is backbone of USA system. Beside these Universities have substantial contribution in household economy through skill-base entrepreneurship like weaving, poultry, fishery, etc. In return, to these contributions, Universities are discriminated and subjected to have low socio cultural status.

Economic development without the proper development of human is only a partial development. It has been a jobless, ruthless, voiceless, rootless and fruitless growth (HRD, 2011). The task for the upcoming decades, therefore, is to make the growth process more human equitable and sustainable. Gender equality is an integral part of the more human and equitable growth. Without equitable access to resources and Universities’ empowerment, growth cannot be sustained in the long run, because Universities form half of the population. The followings are the significant of this sturdy:
In this way, Universities contribute to education. But their contribution is still undervalued. Universities’ status is very low in this scenario. This study will be undertaken to explore the status of Universities and their role on economic growth in household economy, which makes this study significant. This study will be useful as a reference material for the future researchers of the field and the policy makers to design the appropriate policy to uplift the status of Universities. Thus, this study deserves the rationality.
